What can I say? When inspiration strikes, what’s a girl to do?

This one uses Bella Rose DSP, Pink Pirouette CS for the base, Riding Hood Red CS, Whisper White CS, Old Olive CS (it looks darker in the pic than the ribbon…but it really is Old Olive!). Ink is Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette ink. Flowers are from Heartfelt Thanks and the sentiment is from Sincere Salutations. Ribbon is 1/4 in Old Olive grosgrain. Squares and sentiment are on dimensionals.
I’ve really got to run…I have to leave in an hour for conferences and have yet to shower! eek!!
Enjoy!

I had a little bit of time this morning (conferences don’t start until 1 today!), so I hopped over to SCS and found a sketch challenge with a fun layout.

My first thought was to create a Christmas card, using Snow Swirled. However, after glancing through the gallery, I saw that quite a few people had the same idea (with beautiful results!) So – I decided to make one using a different set, in a different way than it might be intended (something I like to do!). Here’s what I came up with:

Baroque Motifs makes a lovely “snowflake”. The small flower almost looks like pointsettias. I used Bella Rose DSP on the bottom 2/3 of the card and Kiwi Kiss for the card base. The sentiment (from Snow Swirled), the small flowers, and snowflakes are stamped in Kiwi Kiss (except the center one, which is done in Riding Hood Red). A little Dazzling Diamonds to accent the snowflakes (applied using my quickie glue pen, since it has a finer point than 2-way glue) and Very Vanilla grosgrain complete the look. The sentiment and snowflakes are mounted on dimensionals. Easy, peasy! (and I LOVE the fact it’s done with IN colors – love these colors!!)
Ingredients:
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Snow Swirled
CS: Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red
DSP: Bella Rose
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red
Ribbon: Very Vanilla 1/4 in grosgrain
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, dimensionals
Enjoy!

Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Tomorrow our schedule is as follows: 7:24 – 12:30 – students, 12:30 – 2pm break/lunch, 2-8 pm – conferences (no additional break- and we are booked solid!) It will make for a LONG day. The good news is Thursday is a day off for students, teachers go in 1-8 (with a 1 hour dinner break). The BEST part is Friday OFF! Bonus: not having to deal with wound-up 6th graders on Halloween! They are already energetic enough…let alone on a day where they have the prospect of lots of free candy…lol
I’m kind of/sort of working on several cards right now. However, with tomorrow’s schedule, they will have to wait for another day. See you Thursday or Friday! I should be able to focus long enough to complete at least one card and post by then!!

I recently placed an order (for myself) which qualified for a Level 2 Hostess gift. While there are such cute Level 2 stamp sets – I was drawn to the large chocolate “Home Is Built of Love and Dreams” Decor Element. I have a vaulted ceiling in my great room and thought it would be perfect. Finally, this weekend, I put it up. Even for this “can’t-put-anything-in-a-straight-line-to-save-my-life” girl, it was easy, peasy! I purchased the Decor Elements applicator tool and within about 15 minutes I was DONE!
Here are the results:

I’m thrilled with the results! My walls are a little more green than they show up in these pics..the chocolate really compliments the colors nicely.
Enjoy!

I felt like doing a simple, somewhat masculine card…

I apologize for the pic…not the best lighting. This one will be sent to my brother in law (Karen’s husband), as he is still (understandably a mess) since her death. I want to let him know we are still praying for him and the boys. (For those that are new to my blog – Karen was my beloved sister-in-law/fellow breast cancer butt-kicker who lost her fight in August.)
I have some good news on the Relay for Life front. The “Fight Like a Girl” shirts have been selling like crazy. The local media have picked up the story as a result. To date, there has been approximately $35,000 raised in Karen’s name for the American Cancer Society! The image and slogan have been copyrighted, and the brown shirt/pink logo are being seen everywhere! We were at a bonfire in our little country town this weekend and there was a woman wearing one of “Karen’s shirts”! I flipped out – what an impact she’s had!!
Sorry – detour….

Sorry – that’s the sound of me tooting my own horn!
I just found out, my Christmas Candles card was selected as Split Coast Stampers PROJECT OF THE WEEK! I screen captured the “Featured Upload” section of the Stampin’ Up! Gallery:

How exciting! However, I need to give due credit for the original idea to my fabulous upline, Sarah Klasing (as I did in my Birthday Petals post.)
Enjoy!

Something a LOT different from what I normally do…
This was for the SCS Inspiration Challenge #151. The inspiration came from some girl’s bedding at JC Penney. One rule of the challenge was to use some shade of pink in the card (keeping with Cards for a Cause/Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support of Chemo Angels).
Just like a cozy bed, I used lots of layers…and lots of pink! Although Riding Hood Red would have matched better – I went for it and used both Pink Pirouette and Pixie Pink! The stems, leaves, and butterfly trails were hand-drawn. The stems and leaves were doodled using a blender pen, run across a Kiwi Kiss ink pad. The trails were done with Going Grey Write Marker. I also used the blender pen method to fill in the centers of the flowers (including those in the large butterfly – using So Saffron ink) and on the small butterfly (using Pixie Pink). I used my scallop edge punch along the edge of the Bella Rose DSP. The sentiment is in Pixie Pink on Whisper White, punched with the 1 inch circle punch. Layered under that are Kiwi Kiss (1 1/4 in circle punch), Bella Rose DSP (1 3/8 in circle punch), and Pink Pirouette (scallop circle punch) – that is all mounted on dimensionals.
Like I said – a little bit different than my normal style. That’s why these challenges are good for me! Getting outside my comfort zone will only make me stronger!
