Love, love, love the new set “Fifth Avenue Floral”!

This card got a lot of help from my Big Shot! The Very Vanilla panel was stamped using Fifth Avenue Floral with Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, and Going Gray inks. I then zipped that through my Big Shot with the Top Note Die. I cut another Top Note in Sahara Sand. I then tore the perforations of the Very Vanilla Top Note piece, so I could layer it with the Sahara Sand layer. I used my sanding block to tame the perforation rips a little. I sponged the edges with Basic Gray ink. The sentiment was stamped in Basic Gray and sponged around the edges with Baja Breeze. The “watermark” image on the sentiment was stamped using Sahara Sand ink that was stamped off once first. And one of the most exciting parts about this is the background! Can you see the texture? It’s from the NEW Texturz Plates (set #4) for the Big Shot! These are a terrific value – only $9.95 for three double-sided plates. I used “Distressed” for this card. Easy as can be and I think it adds a wonderful touch to this card!
Ingredients:
Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral
Card Stock: Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand
Ink: Baja Breeze, Sahara Sand, Going Gray, Basic Gray
Accessories: Texturz Plate, Top Note Bigz Die, wide oval punch, dimensionals, sponging
Enjoy!

So, I’m sitting here with my new goodies from the 2009 Spring/Summer catalog, wanting to use them all! However, it’s a little overwhelming, because I can’t exactly use them all on one card. So – I decide to keep it simple, but add some pizazz. This is what developed:

This card uses Taken with Teal for its base (and ink). I added some Whisper White, dressed up with the new Eyelet Border Punch (item 113692). The splash of color comes from a large flower from the Pretties kit, colored with Regal Rose ink. The center of the flower has a Filagree Designer Brad medallion (item 112577), attached with a large yellow round Rhinestone Brad (from the Fire collection – item 109110). The sentiment is from the brand new Garden Greetings stamp set (item 113716). I think this set has been overlooked somewhat. I is an 8 piece set that comes with some cute flower shapes and four sentiments (“friends”, “get well soon”, “thank you”, and “birthday wishes”). One of my favorite things is that is also comes with a row of dots! Really fun, multipurpose set!
Today is a snow day (one where we actually have SNOW – not just ice!) I’m hoping to get into my craft room and whip up some more fun things with my new goodies!
Ingredients:
Card Stock: Taken with Teal, Whisper White
Ink: Taken with Teal, Regal Rose (to color flower)
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch, Wide Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Filagree brad, Rhinestone brad, large flower from Pretties Kit, dimensionals, sponging
Enjoy!

We have a new great-niece named Cadence Ann! Here is the card I made to celebrate her arrival…

The inside:

I know the “trendy” thing right now is to decorate the inside of cards. What’s funny is that I’ve always done this on cards I send (non-samples). I line them with a neutral like Whisper White, Very Vanilla, etc and put a coordinating image and/or sentiment inside. I also stamp the envelopes, too! To me, this is what a “finished” card means, instead of just a card front. Those little details make it more special!
This card uses the Level 3 Hostess Set called Goody-Goody Gumdrops. This is a really versatile set, with not only cute images, but matching sentiments. You may have seen the card I made that used the ice cream sundae that comes in this set. Adorable!
The card stock is Pink Pirouette and Certainly Celery. I used some paper from the new DSP Candy Lane (that is still available until 1/31 as part of the Love You Much bundle posted in the left sidebar.) The image was colored in with a blender pen, then given some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I doodled the string, just to add a little detail. The background was stamped with the flower from this set, in Pink Pirouette (it goes so well with that DSP!) The scallop edge punch finished the bottom (though I think the brand new eyelet punch would have been adorable – but mine doesn’t come until tomorrow and since I have a game tomorrow night, I can’t play with it until at least Tuesday – and I need to get this card sent!)
Ingredients:
Card Stock: Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
DSP: Candy Lane
Stamps: Goody-Goody Gumdrops (Level 3 Hostess)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana (duck), Apricot Appeal (beak), Lavendar Lace (wheels)
Accessories: Silver brads, dimensionals, Whisper White taffeta ribbon
Technique: sponging, blender pen
Enjoy!

This is a super-easy mini-project that we’ll be making at Marcie’s workshop on the 30th. It’s a large binder clip, altered into a photo holder!

The black portion of the binder clip was covered in Candy Lane DSP (available as part of the Love You Much bundle that is still available – or by itself starting 1/19/09 in the new catalog). The flower was punched with the 5 Petal punch, using the reverse side of the striped paper (it’s hard to see, but it’s lovely little polka dots on Pretty In Pink). The flower was also punched in Riding Hood Red. The center is made from Pretty In Pink, punched with the 1/2 inch Circle punch, then given some sparkle thanks to Dazzling Diamonds glitter. A silver brad completes the flower. It was attached using a glue dot (full-size). A little Pretty In Pink taffeta ribbon decorates the top of the clip – and voila! It’s ready for a photo! For some reason, I had the worst time getting this to show up well on the camera! I am not sure if it’s because of the reflection from the metal (and glitter) or what. Hopefully, you get the idea!
In case you are wondering who the gorgeous girl in the photo is, it’s my daughter, right after she got her hair done for prom last year. Her outfit even matches the clip!
Enjoy!

I’ve been soaking up the new Spring/Summer Idea Book & Catalog! It’s coming in two days!! For those that have not seen it…it’s BEAUTIFUL! The new papers are awesome, there are some really amazing stamp sets, and the photographs are full of beautiful projects and ideas!
So, to gain your forgiveness for not posting, here are some puppy pics (they were taken last weekend):

Don’t be fooled by their cuteness…they are mischievious as all get out! They work together to break out of the pen (I’ve seen them do it!) – they all bunch up on one edge of the pen and push with all their might. I think I can now add “puppy wrangler” to my resume!
More cards and projects coming later!
Enjoy!

I decided in order to find some inspiration, I would participate in this weeks Sketch Challenge over at SCS. This week’s sketch is this:

I really wanted to use stamps from the NEW 2009 Spring/Summer Idea Book & Catalog, so I decided to use Love You Much (part of the bundle that is on special this month only). So, this is what I came up with:

This one uses Pretty In Pink, paper from the current Level 1 Hostess Patterns Pack (though any paper from Candy Lane or the red/pink paper from Bella Rose would work equally well), stamps from the new set Love You Much, and punched out hearts from the Heart to Heart punch (also part of the Love You Much bundle!) The heart for the “flower” is mounted on dimensionals. The little lovebirds’ heart is attached with a mini-glue dot (regular readers know how big a fan I am of these!) I mounted the panels on Chocolate Chip card stock, as well as using the Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the outlines. A blender pen was used to color the images. The lovebirds got a little Pretty In Pink sponging around them. Pretty In Pink taffeta ribbon gives this a sweet finish.
TIP: When punching out shapes using the punches, turn the punch upside down so you can see where the paper is going. With the punch upside down, place the side you want to show FACE DOWN as well (so you can see the “other” side in the punch). This will help prevent getting white edges on your punched image. Unlike our CS, the DSP is not dyed all the way through – so if you punch with your preferred side facing you, you may see tearing and white edges (which are not cute!) Try this with some scrap DSP to see what I mean!
Ingredients:
Card Stock: Pretty In Pink, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Hostess Level 1 Patterns Pack (2008 Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pretty In Pink, Kiwi Kiss
Stamps: Love You Much (available NOW as part of Love You Much bundle – see sidebar)
Accessories: blender pen, dimensionals, Heart to Heart punch (available NOW as part of Love You Much bundle – see sidebar)
Enjoy!

Another card made with the set Sweet Stems and Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper, from the catalog coming out in *9 days*…

This is another peek at the new set called Sweet Stems. This is such a cute set, with a lot of versatility! Did I mention that there is a new embosslit which matches this set, also making an appearance in the new catalog? If you aren’t sure what an “embosslit” is – it’s a small little dynamo, that you put into the Big Shot, that both embosses AND cuts out a shape! How fabulous is that?? I will post a peek at the Sweet Stems embosslit in a few days. You’re going to LOVE it!
Not only did I use the Sweet Stems set, but the sentiment is from the new Love You Much set (available NOW in a very special bundle – see sidebar for details). It’s stamped in Kiwi Kiss. That panel is popped up on dimensionals, making it stand out (literally) in person!
This card uses not only a new stamp set (well, technically TWO new stamp sets!),. but also the lucious new Raspberry Tart paper. You are really going to want this paper! It features Kiwi Kiss, Pretty In Pink, Rose Red, Real Red, and Cameo Coral. GREAT for Valentine’s, Spring, and Summer! I had a hard time choosing which pattern to use for this card. It also coordinates with the Sweet Stems stamp set perfectly!
To color the images, I used my trusty blender pen with Pretty In Pink, Rose Red, and So Saffron. I also sponged the edges of the little squares with Pretty In Pink ink. The ribbon is SO yummy…I really think this ribbon is SU!’s biggest secret!! The double-sided Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla ribbon is too, too scrumptious for words. Seriously, it has a feel that no other ribbon has…it’s thick, silky, and so, so pretty. I seem to want hoard it for cards that are “worthy”…lol I mounted the bow to the card using a pop-up glue dot (Item 104183) – not the mini size this time. One thing I like about the regular size is that although they come off the sheet round, you can stretch/shape them to fit whatever you are putting them under. Really fantastic for heavy 3-D items like bows!
Ingredients:
Stamps: Sweet Stems and Love You Much (both available 1/19/09 in the 2009 Spring/Summer Idea Book & Catalog)
Card Stock: Pretty In Pink, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla
DSP: Raspberry Tart (available 1/19/09)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Pretty In Pink, Rose Red, So Saffron
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon (item 111879), pop-up glue dots, dimensionals, blender pen, scallop edge punch, mat kit
Enjoy!

P.S. For my regular readers, watch for another “Pup-date”, coming soon! These little rascals have teeth now and are running, playing with toys, eating semi-solid food, and are too cute for words!
