This is a card I made a few weeks ago, but I’m not really sure about it. I thought I’d share it anyway.

I used Dreams Du Jour with a very different color pallete than what I’ve typically seen. It kind of gives this floral piece a masculine edge. This one has a Basic Gray base, which was textured with the harlequin pattern from the Stampin’ Up! Texturz Backgrounds I set for the Big Shot. I layered that with a strip of Basic Black and Not Quite Navy, that was stamped with a stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds. A piece of Whisper White tafetta ribbon and some silver brads accentuate that layer. The focal point was stamped on Whisper White with Basic Black with the large stamp from Dreams Du Jour, then colored very lightly with a blender pen and pastels, in the same colors. Basic Gray ink was sponged onto the edges. This was then layered onto Basic Black and Not Quite Navy. The ticket corner punch was used to accent two of the layers.
I’m not sure if I like it or not – however, I’m posting it to encourage you to try using stamp sets with “non-typical” colors. You just might find something that works!
Enjoy!

I just love the new Walk in the Park DSP! Here’s one of my favorite patterns, paired with Cameo Coral, Whisper White, and Basic Gray:

This also features the Eyelet Border punch, the new Scallop Oval punch (obviously my new favorite!), and the 5/8″ Jumbo Brads (these in Whisper White are from the Neutrals Assortment, Item# 112533). Some Basic Gray taffeta ribbon and Baja Breeze card stock give it some punch. I’ll admit, Cameo Coral is not one of my go-to colors, but this combination is growing on me! It’s bright, cheery, and very Spring-y!
Enjoy!

Ingredients:
Stamps: Oval All (Occasions Mini Catalog)
Card Stock: Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
DSP: Walk in the Park (Occasions Mini)
Ink: Cameo Coral
Punches: Eyelet Border, Scallop Oval (Occasions Mini), Large Oval
Accessories: 5/8″ Jumbo Brads, Basic Gray taffeta ribbon
This is very similar to a card I recentlly sent as a sympathy card to the family of the boy (in my extended family) that died in a car crash.

While I didn’t post the actual card, this is a very similar reproduction of that card. I feel this layout would also be useful for not just sympathy, but also for people that are sick, received bad news, or simply need extra prayers.
The card base is Going Gray. The tree was stamped from the set Thoughts and Prayers, with Basic Gray onto Whisper White cardstock, cut out with the Top Note Bigz die for the Big Shot. The paper is from the set Walk in the Park, from the new Occasions Mini Catalog. One of my favorite papers right now! Whisper White taffeta ribbon dresses this up, in addition to some sponging with Basic Gray. The sentiment was punched out with the large oval punch, layered onto the brand new scallop oval punch, done with Basic Black.
Enjoy!

Recently, after reorganizing my ink pads, I decided to use a color that I never use. So, I went to my Bold Brights to see what would grab me. I realized I have a brand new, opened, but never used Brilliant Blue. I don’t even remember buying Brilliant Blue – ever. I don’t know what I thought I would need it for. The ink pad was as juicy as a new pad should be. Seemed like such a waste! So, I got out some Summer Sun (not going the whole Bold Brights bandwagon just yet – baby steps!) and this is what I came up with:

How bright and cheery is this? I used the set Garden Greetings and Brilliant Blue ink. The smaller flower was stamped onto a Brilliant Blue background, the medium sized flower from the set was stamped on Whisper White, then cut out. The sentiment was also done on Whisper White, then punched with the Word Window punch. This was layered onto a large Brilliant Blue oval, that was layered onto a Summer Sun oval scallop (LOVE this punch!!). The cut-out flowers were layered onto circles of Summer Sun and dressed up with some Summer Sun corduroy buttons and popped up on dimensionals. Some Whisper White tafetta ribbon and jazzing up with the Scallop Edge punch completes the look.
I think I might actually be starting to like Brilliant Blue!
Enjoy!

I just finished my son’s basket. My original intention was to make it like my daughter’s (the one I posted earlier), only without the flower. But, it needed something. So, it got dressed up with a little Easter bunny – made from punches!

I used the 1 3/4 in circle in Whisper White for his head. The ears are the large and small ovals (the small oval was punched with Pink Pirouette). The nose is the small heart from the Heart to Heart punch. The eyes are made with the 1/2 in. circle punch in Bashful Blue and the 1/4 in. circle punch (discontinued) punched in Basic Black. White gel pen was used to highlight the eyes. Sponging was done with Regal Rose and Going Gray. A Chocolate Chip Write Marker was used to draw the whiskers and mouth. The bow tie was made using So Saffron grosgrain (a Sale-a-Bration item, also used on the basket) and a sliver of the same Delicate Dots paper (also a Sale-a-Bration item) used on the basket.
I’m sure my 15 year old son will appreciate the cuteness – if appreciation is counted as an eye-roll (he thinks I’m a bit over-the-top sometimes…imagine that! lol) Honestly, he probably won’t even notice the basket and will go straight for the chocolate! Can’t blame the kid!
Update to add a pic of them both full and ready to go:

Enjoy -and again, Happy Easter!

Hello all! I have to apologize for extended absence. Life has gotten in the way of my crafting. Our school district suffered two tragic student deaths in a three week time, one of which hit close to home as he was part of my extended family. Sadly, both were 17 and involved in car accidents. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. This has just rocked our little town and my family. Thank you for being understanding.
That said, with Easter tomorrow, I wanted to do something special for my kids. Since they are 18 and 15, hauling out the old big wicker Easter basket is a little much. So, I borrowed this fabulous idea from the amazing Mary Jo Albright (actually, to say she is amazing is an understatement!!) for a more “grown-up” version of the Easter basket. Mine is not woven as hers is, but the shape is the same.

This basket was created using our Scallop Envelope die for the Big Shot. I cut 6 using some of the Sale-a-Bration DSP I have left over (I think the colors are great for spring!) I also used some of the Certainly Celery twill ribbon (also from SAB). I dressed this up with some silver brads and a flower from the Pretties Kit. The center of the flower uses one of our yummy new corduroy buttons in Summer Sun (I know the paper has no Summer Sun, but I think it adds some color to this little basket!) Voila! Almost-instant Easter basket . I’ve shown it filled so you can see how much it holds! I think my teens will like these (or at least the candy!)
I have more to post and will get it all uploaded so that it publishes this week. Thanks again to all of you for your support!
Happy Easter!
