Inspired by a card I’ve seen different versions of elsewhere, I came up with my own “ornament” card…
This one involved some planning and a multi-step process. First, the “ornaments” were stamped, using the Snow Swirled set, using Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Baja Breeze. The Baja Breeze ornament was stamped using the large, swirly tree from Snow Swirled, then punched with the 1 inch circle punch. The other two are the snowflakes from that set, punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″ round punches. The punched “ornaments” were then given a rub of VersaMark and heat embossed with clear EP. This was to preserve the color and crispness of the ink, for the next step. Speaking of which, the next step involved covering the ornaments with Crystal Effects and a small sprinkle of Dazzling Diamonds glitter. This was given a couple of hours rest time, before applying another coat of Crystal Effects. Again, more drying time was given. TIP: The punched ornaments were mounted, using a dab of Snail Adhesive, to scrap pieces of chipboard after being stamped – this prevented me from burning myself when heat embossing and also prevented them from curling up after Crystal Effects was applied.
The Very Vanilla CS was stamped, using the large tree from “Lovely as a Tree” and Old Olive ink. Only the top part, minus the trunk and ground portion was inked, to create the illusion of Christmas tree branches. The “ornaments” were dressed up with Stampin’ Up! elastic cord in Silver (LOVE this! It’s super shiny and does not fray!!) The “hooks” were drawn with Going Grey Write Marker.
The RHR ornament was mounted on dimensionals. The card base is Riding Hood Red and the layer is Old Olive. I didn’t put a sentiment on this, as I think it makes enough of a statement on its own. The ornaments have a dimensional, rounded look to them (and they are sparkly!!)
